Greatness or bust

Stella

Or bust

Adventures are a girl’s best friend.

And in business, as in life, you gotta make your OWN magic.

(Side bar: I was in Montana for 5 weeks this summer. Before I left, my friends and I were planning to build a blanket fort womb and stage a ritual birthing ceremony. When I told a friend who’d just had a kid this, she said, “just make sure you punch one another in the stomach and scream a lot.” She also suggested, helpfully, that we serve Epiduraltinis.)

Speaking of giving birth, Stella’s been working with a few midwife-geniuses to find out the answer to this question:

Just who is this Stella Orange?

As I’m finding out, thanks to the genius help of Elizabeth Locey-Hampe and Emily Tepper, Stella’s got big plans for HER next adventure.

It starts with coming out of her writer’s cave and teaching business owners “how to fish.” How to tap into YOUR own genius, find YOUR voice, and write and make your marketing from THAT. When you do this, what comes back is nothing short of extraordinary. And YOU won’t be the same, either.

So THAT’S fun. And more on that next week. Dot dot dot…

But in the meantime, I wanted to share two drawings that Emily helped me do.

One is Stella, surveying the world (and a very prosperous life) from a tree. I love trees!

And the other is me, staying in her shell. At her computer. Alone at her desk. On this drawing, the caption reads: “I’m fine.” Isn’t that just heartbreaking?

You’re getting to see behind the curtain here because I’m curious about YOU. Where you’re at in your business-building adventure, and what pearls you have that you need to share in a bigger way with more people.

Are you moving ever forward? What’s your biggest challenge in marketing, writing + spreading the word about YOUR genius? You’re invited to post a note here in the comments below, or send me an email at stella(at)stellaorange(dot)com. I’ll do my best to reply to everyone who writes, but please be patient with me… I’ll do my best!

Mighty thanks to Emily Tepper for asking me to draw what my vision of a prosperous life looks like.

When I read, “I’m fine (I’m in my shell)” I thought, “something about that shell has worked for Stella for a while, and it seems NOT to be working for her anymore,” and it became apparent why you’re leaving the shell. Then I wondered, “What else is working for Stella today, that may be keeping her from moving forward faster/better/insertyourownadverbhere.”

So, what’s working for you today?

And one more thing: nice job. A very fine post indeed. I’m asking myself that same question.

I hear you! You and I are going to do fine with our separate growth processes. It’s scary but it will be fun - eventually! Remember what it was like when you were at my stage? You survived that! To our success!

Yikes………….I am too much “alone at my computer” too! I see that but still don’t “see” how to break out of that……..exactly. (us compliance folks like to know the exact details on things)

Ah, grasshopper… use the force! Or just leave your house. They have coffee shops in Napa, don’t they?

    Love,

    Sue,

Thank you. And let’s make that a champagne toast. We are all works in progress, are we not?

    See you soon!

    Ben,

You got it-things shift. What’s working today is that more & more, what I do for a living feels like play. And I get to experiment in the living laboratory that is my business, and see what results I get. (Like sharing this post & my crazy-lady drawrings. My analytic-philosopher-PhD candidate sweetie thinks I’m nuts. But look at how many of my peeps posted notes!).

Onward! And glad you’re becoming one of the regulars around here…

    Love,
    Stella

Stella, My challenge? My genius keeps growing and changing - I can’t get it to sit still. I feel like I need to leap on it and tackle it to the ground so that I can start spreading the word! :)

Great new photo - you look mahvelous dahling! I’m a bit discouraged here sending out newsletters, teaching classes, offering groups and retreats and getting a very meager response. Ahhhhh… Keeping my confidence and courage up is the challenge at the moment. Although I am living my passion and purpose, grateful for many, many things and continuing to reach out with love, not much love coming back these days. Ahhhh…

Midwife-genius!! I love it! That’s going on my website, for sure.
And I loved working with you, Stella; or with you and Stella…

Can’t wait to see you in NYC!
